GREAT NEWS: Pilgrim Powersports & Kawasaki support Race Point Lighthouse!

Plover escort with Kawasaki MulePilgrim Power Sports, in partnership with Kawasaki, has provided us with a Kawasaki #10 MULE side-by-side ATV vehicle to allow for our Piping Plover Escort program this year at Race Point Light Station. Having this special vehicle helps us to continue to facilitate our education program and public access to the property by working cooperatively with the Dept. of Interior, US Fish and Wildlife and the Cape Cod National Seashore. The plover escort program is being overseen by Dave Spang, a long-time Ranger with the National Park Service. Dave, along with Eric Hansen and Mark Wisneski, have covered the shifts between 9 AM and 1 PM almost daily enabling our Keeper House guests to arrive and depart while the Pole Rd and outer beach were closed pending the hatching and fledging of the Piping Plover.

Bob Trapani, Executive Director of the American Lighthouse Foundation, coordinated the necessary insurance information and contract requirements while Gary Childs, Chair of ALF’s Cape Cod Chapter, worked on the Letter of Intent to meet the Kawasaki requirements.

We would like to thank our benefactors, Kawasaki and Pilgrim Power Sports, with special appreciation to Larry and Paul locally with Pilgrim Power Sports and Kathy at Kawasaki corporate, for helping us through their Public Safety and Education loaner program.
